There is a Brazilian Software Company named Desbloqueiobr claiming to be one of the first in the world to unlock the new iPhone 3G. Take note, this is just five days after the launch. If you want to purchase an iPhone 3G and want to activate it yourself, Desbloqueiobr has not yet revealed how much it will charge to unlock customers’ iPhones but they just said that it probably won’t cost more than US$250.
Using a small, wafer-thin device that sits on the SIM card, it basically tricks the iPhone 3G into thinking a test SIM has been inserted, thereby allowing full control with the new network.
No tools necessary to Unlock iPhone 3G
Previous versions using the same principle were available for the first generation iPhone, but needed tools and an unlocked phone. DesbloqueioBr’s is nothing more than an additional chip.

As of this posting unlocking the new iPhone 3G is impossible. This is because of the recent moves of Apple. They have decided to implement a few things that would certainly make the life of the iPhone hackers difficult. We all knew that the old or original iPhone (not iPhone 3G) could be activated through iTunes. A lot of hackers were able to go around this system and unlock iPhones.
With their new product, the new iPhone 3G. Apple is changing the way they could be activated. Those who will buy the new iPhone 3G will need to purchase a service contract with AT&T before leaving the store. The iPhone 3G will not be sold or be made available online. AT&T’s President of National Distribution Glenn Lurie said that the new iPhone 3G can and will only be activated in Apple Stores and AT&T Stores. It is also said that AT&T would give penalties to users who do not activate their new iPhone 3Gs in the first 30 days of their purchase. Though the penalty is yet to be defined, this would certainly scare off the people who were planning to unlock the new iPhone 3G themselves.
