What is the Best Torrent Client for a Mac?

Best Torrent Client for Mac # 1. uTorrent Mac (Beta)
A very lightweight torrent Client for the Mac. It is currently still on Beta Phase but they released it so I think its already stable. I had this as the number one (1) because it is regarded as the premier torrent client on the Windows platform, there isn’t any reason for it to be different on a Mac.

Best Torrent Client for Mac # 2. BitTorrent for Mac OS X (V 4.27.2)
It’s second on my list because it is the only I found (as of writing this post) that supported the Mac.

Best Torrent Client for Mac # 3. Vuze (formerly Azureus) for Mac
At one point in time it was regarded as the Best Torrent Client. It didn’t lose the title of being the best because it didn’t get better. In fact, it has everything that uTorrent has. It’s just the amount of system resource Vuze eats up on your computer.

So far, we only have two (2) Torrent Clients for Mac. We will still be on the look out for more. The more, the merrier right?

Update: We now list 3 of the Best Torrent Client of the Mac. If you know more Torrent Clients compatible with the Mac, please feel free to comment.

You’ve named OS X versions of Windows clients while completely forgetting about Transmission and many other great clients because “it is the only [ones you] found”.

As Bob said, you missed Transmission. An excellent client.

You can find it at http://www.transmissionbt.com/

To say that uTorrent for Mac is best because uTorrent for Windows is best is ridiculous. uTorrent beta for Mac is certainly a fast, lightweight client. But as yet, it only incorporates minimal features – after all the Mac version is at .9.0.4, whiie the Windows version is up to 1.8+.

Transmission and uTorrent both fit the “fast, lightweight” standard, and both have some good features, but neither has the full feature set needed by advanced torrent users. Vuze (formerly Azureus) has a great range of features, but not being developed with Macs in mind, it eats up system resources like crazy, and the Ui is hardly intuitive.

This is all to say: there isn’t yet a killer Mac bittorrent client. Ideally, I’d like to see something with the features and customization options of Vuze and the simplicity of Transmission built from the ground up as a Cocoa app.

For the time being, I use all three, depending on the requirements of the tracker I’m using.

I didn’t like uTorrent for Mac, finding it less than responsive when trying to delete torrents. Transmission was OK, but I am still yet to find something that works as well as the Windows uTorrent
