I have been paying GoW 2 a lot lately and my Gears of War 2 Rank just doesn’t improve even if I always win?
Your rank in Gears of War 2 multiplayer is based on your TrueSkill rating, which means that it will not only calculate the number of wins of a player but the actual skill that the player has.
What is TrueSkill?
TrueSkill is like the chess ELO system, which tries to predict who should win the match based on the skill of the players. If you were predicted to lose and your team wins, then your TrueSkill goes up more than if you won and you were predicted to win. This holds true for the inverse scenario: If you were predicted to win and you lose, then your ranking drops more than if you were predicted to lose.
Also, keep in mind that each rank icon represents a specific range or bucket of TrueSkill values, so while your skill is fluctuating in very small increments from match to match, your rank icon will only change when your skill moves from one bucket to the next. Therefore, your rank is not just about number of kills or experience or the amount of time played. It’s an aggregated representation of your skill level based on your wins and losses during Public Xbox LIVE matches.
Is there any penalty given to players who quit games?
Yes, players who quit games gets penalty. Their Gears of War 2 Rank gets a hit.

It really depends. Try beating people that have a higher rank than yours. Maybe that would speed things up a little.

how do you know if your team is predicted to win or lose??
im am also stuck on the second rank and wont go up to the third one no matter what if any one can tell me really how you rank up please tell me. my stats are good and i have much more wins than loses. gamertag :Kinnas if can help over xbox live. thank you
if you get disconnected from the host will that still go down as a loss

Does the amount of players and the type of game mode affect the TrueSkill ranking points you would earn or not?
i my rank was 1, then all of a sudden it became 4, how’s that??

playing wingman and always winning will rank you up very quickly…but be ready to go down just as quick by losing just one….its imposible to go higher than 3 playing only wingman you need to play all game modes to go 4rm 3rd to 4th and finally to the almighty 5th!!!!! i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think that it all depends on your kill death because my win loss is phenominal but kill death is average and im stuck at rank 4

I’ve been deranked 8 times…5 of those times because of disconnection. I’ve been playing extremely well and i cant get back the 4 rank. I’m positive in k/d and in win percentage in every match type…why can’t i rank back?

i played with somebody the other day that still had it he said he could do it for 1600 ms points just wondering
